Loading the WallControl Centre is an independent fan project that produces sports recap videos from public data and publishes them to YouTube. This policy explains what data the project handles.
Control Centre is operated by a single individual, based in Australia. The site is used globally, and this policy applies the same way to every visitor regardless of where you are — we don’t treat one region’s visitors to a lower standard than another’s. As an Australian-based operator, we aim to handle personal information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), regulated by the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. Because visitors come from everywhere, including the EU and UK, the rights described in “Your rights and data deletion” below — access, correction, and deletion — are offered to every visitor, not only where a specific law requires it.
You never need an account to use the core site — browsing recaps, watching replays, and using the interactive Replay Deck all work as a guest. We don’t run advertising. We measure how the site is used (see “Analytics” below) — analytics cookies are only set if you accept them.
If you choose to sign in (optional, via Google or an email “magic link”), we receive and store the identifier Firebase Authentication assigns you, plus whatever Google or your email sign-in provides — typically your name and email address. This is used only to recognise you across visits/devices and to support features that need a real identity, like League Zone. Every visitor is also assigned an anonymous identity automatically (even before choosing to sign in) so that things like a League Zone entry can exist before you decide whether to link a real account to it.
League Zone is user-generated: if you create or join one, the display name you choose and the players you’ve followed are stored against your account identity and are visible to other members of that same League Zone. Don’t use a display name that identifies someone else or contains anything you wouldn’t want shown publicly to that group.
Locally, in your browser, we store your followed sports/teams/players, Replay Deck layout preferences, and similar settings using your browser’s own storage (not a tracking cookie) — this stays on your device and is only sent back to us if a signed-in account syncs it across your devices.
If you use the contact form, we store your name, email address, topic and message so we can read and reply to it, and forward it to our inbox. Your IP address is kept only as a one-way scrambled code, used to stop spam.
We do not collect payment information through this site — there is currently no paid tier.
Standard server logs (IP address, request time, user agent) may be retained transiently by our hosting provider for security and operational purposes.
We use PostHog (hosted in the EU) to understand how Control Centre is used, so we can improve it. It records the pages you visit, what you click and use on the site (for example following a team, making a call in a Watch Party, or opening a replay), how you arrived (for example from a search engine, YouTube or a shared link), and your approximate location (country and city, derived from your IP address, which PostHog does not keep), device, browser and screen size.
Without your consent this happens without cookies or any other storage on your device: each visit is counted on its own and isn’t linked to your previous visits.
If you accept the cookie banner, PostHog also stores an identifier on your device so return visits are recognised, records anonymised sessions of how pages are used (everything you type is hidden in these recordings), and — if you’re signed in — links your usage to your account so it can be understood across your devices.
You can change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page. We don’t sell this data or use it for advertising.
Recaps and the Replay Deck are built from publicly available sports data. This data describes matches and athletes, not visitors to this site.
You can stop using League Zone or sign out at any time. To request a copy of the data we hold against your account, or to have it deleted, email jamievandenhoorn@gmail.com — we’ll action a genuine request within a reasonable time.
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we’ll remove it.
The project uses Google APIs to upload finished videos to its own YouTube channel. This access is limited to the project’s own channel and is used only to publish, update, and organise Control Centre’s own recap videos. Control Centre’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. No end-user Google or YouTube account data is requested, stored, or shared.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for advertising purposes. Account and League Zone data is stored using Google Firebase (Authentication and Firestore) as our infrastructure provider; Google processes this data on our behalf to provide the service, not for its own purposes. Data is otherwise processed only by the infrastructure providers required to host this site and publish videos.
This policy may be updated as the project evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the “last updated” date above.
